On Bank Holiday Monday 29th August, Willen Hospice will be holding its first Ride for Willen Cycling Sportive.
Starting at Cranfield University Campus, cyclists will be able to choose from three different routes between 20 miles and 65 miles, each taking in a picturesque route around the outskirts of Milton Keynes. The sportive is open to a range of cycling abilities and there’s also an off-road cycle challenge for kids to get involved in.
The event will look to raise vital funds to support the specialist end-of-life care provided by the Hospice in Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas. The Hospice needs to raise £7 every minute of the year and is reliant on the local community for 78% of its running costs.
Paul Hinson, Chief Executive said “Our Ride for Willen Sportive is set to be a wonderful addition to our summer events calendar and another great way for our supporters to get involved in fundraising to support our care. We rely so much on the passion and dedication of our local community to fund our services and we’re sure we’ll have lots of people riding for Willen on the August Bank Holiday.”

For those of you new to the area:
Willen Hospice provides complex and individual care to all adults affected by life limiting illness in our community and support to their families and friends. Our care is assuring, equally accessible and advanced and often takes place in people’s own homes. It is free to the patient and provided by a highly skilled team of professionals. We receive less than a quarter of our funding from the NHS and need the support of the local community to provide us with financial stability to ensure that we are always there to care.
