At ECKA Newton Longville and Wolverton, students from 5 years upwards, any fitness or skill level will enjoy training. The group is run by Sensei Lauren and her team. Classes are tailored to ensure beginners will feel as welcome as experienced members. This exciting sport promotes fitness, mental awareness and self-control. It also expects respect while encouraging friendship.
Students take part in full contact karate, using full safety equipment during sparring to reduce risk of injury. Mitesh, a student at Karate MK, chose the sport because it was something he and his children could easily do together. He explained, “The club has a real family feel and it has become part of our lives. It is more than simply another after-school activity.”
The club offers family time while learning new skills and techniques and getting fit. It also brings so much more – mental agility, technical skills and fun. One of Mitesh’s funniest moments was watching his 8-year-old son doing a jumping back first on a black belt adult. Mitesh has also seen the sport build confidence in his children and watching them complete their first freeform routines in front of the whole class was one of his best moments.
